The Tamiya DB01 platform was introduced not long after the DF03. While both of these chassis are intermediate-level 4WD buggies, the DB01 was derived from the competition-level 501X and quickly proved to be a capable club racer, though the driveline components required upgrades to handle high-powered motors. The later limited-edition DB01-R kit included a full compliment of upgraded chassis parts (including a new main chassis tub itself), universal driveshafts, TRF shocks, and a much-needed slipper clutch.
Pros: High performance at a low cost, parts compatibility with the high-end 501XCons: Loose tolerances in suspension mounts & steering, no slipper clutch, light-duty diffs components
